In 2010 we, women defenders from diverse social movements in Mesoamerica and other countries gathered in Oaxaca, Mexico, to share our concern and powerlessness in the face of the violence touching our bodies and lives. It was there that the pact to protect and care among ourselves, also known as Feminist Holistic Protection (PIF in Spanish) was born. More than ten years later, this pact brings together more than 2000 WHRDs and 300 organizations articulated in national and territorial networks as well as one regional space. This way, we continue thinking and putting PIF into practice together.
The book “The Pact to Care among Ourselves. 2010-2021: IM-Defensoras’ Approach to Feminist Holistic Protection in Mesoamerica” gathers this experience of more than 10 years of Feminist Holistic Protection’s collective construction and practice. In this publication, voices of our compañeras from El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua tell a little piece of our history, of our journey together so that our individual and collective struggles survive the violence and continue to flourish.
